I robot it's ok to be a robot. robots are good for society as long as they function within the parameters of the three laws of robotics: 1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm malfunctioning robots must be destroyed.2. A robot must obey orders givein to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. _____________________

These are from I, Robot. There is a flaw in these laws and it is exactly what was addressed in the story. A 4th law was added, thing is I can't remember the 4th law which might even have been named Zeroth law. "Zeroth Law" - a robot must not merely act in the interests of individual humans, but of all humanity. </geek> |
