Got a problem..be grateful for the help.
Issue: Hooking 2 HP destops (Windows XP) to a single Cable (Roadrunner) connection.
Background: Had Bellsouth ADSL, hooked into a Cysco Systems Workgroup Switcher (5 port). Everything worked fine.
Problem: I have switched to Roadrunner cable. Now the switcher is not working. I have the ethernet connection going from modem to switcher (Port 1), then 1 each ethernet cable going into Port 2 & 3, which in turn go the a system. One PC workes fine. Error message for other says "Can't find Internet Connection". When I switch the cables/ports, the other PC works and the first one now says "Can't find Internet Connection".
So do I need to buy a diffrent router/switcher or do I need to do something diffrent than before when I had DSL.
Thanks Everyone

Thanks Everyone Have you tried rebooting everything at the same time, including the modem and router?

Next, if that didn't help, I would hit Start > Run > type cmd and hit enter > in the dos window type ipconfig and hit enter.
You should see an ip address like 192.168.0.2, the submask should be 255.255.255.0 and default gateway should be something like 192.168.0.1.
To reset the ip, in the dos window type ipconfig /release
then you should see the ip change to 0.0.0.0
Now type ipconfig /renew
That should grab a new ip address

From: Sanstrom Laxness Ok, should I do the DOS IP adress thing on both pc's? The one connecting should give good numbers, use it as a base for the second PC.
