Political Thread, Don't Read if You Hate Politics

Who hates it when people on the forums post "I hate all this talk about politics" in the middle of a political thread? Or the ones who go even further with statements like "I wish political discussion would be left out of Second Life, why don't you people start a website or something?" Does anyone understand why some one who hates politics would read all the way through a political thread just to say he or she hates political threads?

Beats me.

Hrm. Never said I disliked political threads. More what I was inferring, though I may not have explained myself well enough, is that I'm tired of the state of politics. It seems that politics muddies up far too many things within this country. Like you had said, the big issues were blown over in favor of some far-fetched idiocy. This is something both Republican and Democratic politicians have done to draw attention away from facts.

I see nothing wrong with political threads. I rather enjoy reading them. Just seems like lately capitol hill has been host to the new Benny Hill show.

If the posts in question were mine, I do apologize for the misunderstanding. Seeing as how they were not really condusive to the discussion, I've stricken them from the thread.

Jora's last paragraph made me think of shows like The Colbert Report, which are a satirical take on political hardlining. I do think that one of the aspects is that SL is open to so many kinds of people with a multitude of interests... as opposed to a MUSH that's focused on furries, for example. So, as a result, you get conversations coming up in places where other people aren't comfortable with, and the whole "You're stepping on my boundaries!" kinda things.

I'm not particularly relatable to politics but that being said, I do like Stephen Colbert a lot--and not just for his contributions to Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.

There's something here for everyone. :)
