Years ago, I remember reading a study somewhere about how people downwind of high power lines had high rates of lung cancer, but people upwind did not. Scientists theorized that ionized particles in the air were responsible. I haven't been able to find that case again, but I sure have noticed a lot of ionizing products on the market after it disappeared.
