Which do you use, Firefox or Internet Explorer? Amanda Congdon of Rocketboom interviews New Yorkers with fun and interesting results. I found the gulf in understanding between the Firefox users and the I-just-use-it-cause-it's-there MSIE users to be interesting.

Cool video... On a related note, do you know how hard it was to get my 50-year old mom, who just got comfortable with computer in the last 5 years, to switch to Firefox? "I thought when I want to get on the Internet I'm supposed to click the big blue 'E'?"

Uhm... did you put the big blue E icon on a link to Firefox on her desktop?

No, but ever since IE came out, computer techs and help desks have been saying "just click the big blue E."

That was the point. I thought you might have done that to force her to use Firefox... ;)

Hmm, now why didn't I think of that? That would have been so simple. Like Aaron, I've spent countless hours "training" my 65 yr-old mom not to touch the big blue E, and I'm pretty sure she still does it when I'm not around. Next time I'm at her place, the first thing I'm gonna do is change that shortcut. Good call, Cartridge.

EDIT: Just watched the video. You weren't kidding, Ulrika. There wasn't a single IE user who could say anything other than "because I've always had it".

Too bad Opera is better than both.

BTW

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

And Safari better than all three.

I changed my own link to firefox to "the big blue e" because its almost automatic.. I don't know what I'd do without tab browsing.. Pitty I come across nearly a site a day that isn't firefox friendly..

IE does not lock up on a 14 Meg page, and most clients to the web apps I program are using IE...

That being said, I use Firefox for myself, and always make sure my pages load fine in both.

Here are some stats for this month for one of my web apps...

MSIE 77.4%
Safari 10.1%
Firefox 7.1%
Unknown 3.5%
Mozilla 1.1%
Opera 0.7%
Konqueror 0.1%
