I read a pretty good desciption and guide to grafting plants here , but after doing so I still cant' figure this out: Using bark-grafting, could I graft the scions of two species to the same stock, on opposite sides? I'd like a Lemon/Lime tree.

Yes, depending on how closely related they are, it is very possible to have two kinds of fruit on the same tree. I'm not a botanist, but i've seen it done.

Growing a pot plant--does that make you a botanist or a pharmacist? Hmmmm.

Yes - As Eggy says, I know that it's done here in Florida with Tangerines and Oranges (Tangelo's), and I have done it with an Avocado. I had a Florida tree, but grafted a California Avocado branch onto the tree. It took with no problem but was too young to have born fruit yet (and may never now thanks to Wilma's wrath).

The thing is, I'm not sure if you get seperate fruit or if what happens is that you get a hybrid fruit. With a Tangelo, it's a hybrid fruit that is big like an orange but tastes like a tangerine with a loose skin.

I think it depends on whether they cross pollinate or not, but I'm not entirely sure how that works.

Right Rose - I'm hoping to grow two seperate fruit rather than a hybrid.

And 3 gold stars to Nolan for getting the joke :)
