While most MLB teams accept things like Sabermetrics as guiding principles, the National League's Colorado Rockies are accepting Christianity as a guiding principle:

Baseball's Rockies seek revival on two levels, USA Today

Have fun, people.

Considering the Rockies are only about oh, 16 years old, I don't see what the point is.

I watched their opening pitch in '93 :D. I think the Rockies have talent, their leadership is just bad.

Nothing wrong with that, if that's what they want to do.

I wonder if they bless their equipment with holy water. This reminds me of a guy on a destroyer I was on... He would pray before he launched tomohawk missiles praying that they hit the target. I thought that was very creepy.

Well, I think there's a whole lot wrong with it, but I think it will be an interesting experiment to watch fail.

Nothing like baseball to confirm faith. If you beleive you are winning because you are christian, then you are winning because you are christian. A good player does not mess with a streak.

I think the most common prayer in the Rockies organization is that they get traded to the Cardinals, Red Sox, or Yankees.

I love that 27-24 is their best record to start a season in a decade. Like, being a mediocre team is cause for celebration. I can just imagine the marketing campaign:

"Colorado Rockies: We Have God. We Don't Totally Suck."

Depends on who the "they" is. A professional team is a place of employment. Would it be acceptable for them to refuse to sign a player who wasn't Christian? Or, as is more usually the case, a player who wasn't the right kind of Christian? If I had the money could I buy a team and make Scientology its foundation? I mean, just for laughs...

There could be an entirely new sports league where each tem has a particular religion or philosophy - could be interesting.
