GAZA (Reuters) - A spokesman for gunmen in the Gaza Strip said they had fired a rocket tipped with a chemical warhead at Israel early on Thursday.

If true (Google News links all just reference the Reuters report), it seems to me that some folks with an historical armed antipathy towards Israel are due for a session on the receiving end of a sandpaper dildo.

Mind you, chemical weapons aren't really that great a threat unless used en masse ("The Rock" to the contrary), but as I recall Israel has a policy similar to that of the US. chemical=biological=nuclear

Oh God my heaven help them if its true, the Palestinans that is. If they think Israel is ticked off now...

Basically if its true, Gaza may not be a place that would be suitable for human habitation much longer.

While Gaza may be the focus of some hostile attention from Israel, I doubt they'd use techniques to render the land uninhabitable. If nothing else, it's right on their border, so they'd get the crap too.

Also, there's the moral angle. A lot of what Israel survives on is the notion that it's one of the good guys. Lobbing a nuke is unlikely (but far from impossible), it would pretty much blow away any chance at the moral high ground.

Not to mention Israel has never officially acknowledged it does have nukes. A mushroom cloud would kinda ruin that.

Nukes are one sure way of making a land uninhabitable for a good while. Just bombing it to rubble wouldn't make it unsuited for life (see WW2 Germany).

You know, there are 15 or so Muslim nations in the Middle East, with a combined population of something like 700 million, dwarfing the little strip of land that is Israel (which is about the size of New Jersey) with its 7 million people. Kinda reminds me of a street gang beating up one kid walking home from school.

Ever since the days of Isaac and Ishmael, there has been conflict. As far as I am concerned, Israel has the right and the desire to live in peace, but they have been repeatedly provoked and attacked for decades by thugs using car bombs, "suicide" bombers (which should be called homicide bombers), and any other means they can, including full-scale military attacks against Israel in 1948, 1967, and 1973. These terrorists don't even care when they kill their own people -- witness how many Iraqi women and children have died in their attempts to kill Americans.

In my opinion, the Israelis have every right to kick the Palestinians' asses all the way to Riyadh. I don't think they would consider using a nuclear weapon in Gaza, because it's too close to home... Israel is only 20 miles wide at the waist between Gaza and the West Bank. But if a greater conflict should break out, and defeat looks imminent, I would say goodbye to Damascus and other major cities of the Muslim nations.

The last time there was a great war that virtually destroyed the Israelis was when the Romans all but wiped them out at Masada in 73 AD.

It has been said that, unlike the experience of Masada, where the Jews trapped there committed suicide rather than permit themselves to be taken into slavery or slaughtered by the Romans, if such a defeat were ever again imminent, Israel would destroy its enemies along with itself, like Samson, who pulled the Philistine temple of Dagon down upon his own head and thereby killed more of his enemies in one act than in all the rest of his life combined.

I shudder to think of what the world might witness if the Muslim governments continue their campaign to destroy Israel.
