Does Godwin's law shield people who espouse views similar to the Nazis from ridicule?
If yes, at what point should Godwin's law not be invoked even though its conditions have been met?

You provide the answer in your own question. With a simple rewrite, the answer presents itself: Godwin's law should not be invoked when its conditions have been met.  ~Ulrika~
