Erm, firstly sign up with one of these fine sites
Blogger Livejournal Blog-City Yahoo 360 Msn Spaces I think Yahoo 360 is the easiest to use, but there's not much customization there. _____________________

 I do have my own website where I used to keep a journal but people said it didn't have 'fancy bits', by which I think they meant ways for people to comment on what I said._____________________

Also, depending on the server you have you can setup your own blog. You do need a little techie knowledge, but some services will help you install and configure.
Moveable Type is pretty popular. Or was. http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/ They also have a no install hosted version called TypePad _____________________
