I'm torn.

On one hand... fuckers. What the HELL do they think they are doing, in this day and age?

On the other hand... I've heard too many stories of racialy-oriented gangs in schools (In all directions, I'm not playing favorites). I can understand their logic, from that perspective. IF that's their perspective. It doesn't make me like it, at all, but ya know... I can understand the "Children fearing for their life because they go to a mostly other-race school is bad" mentality.

I guess the biracial kids get the King Solomon admission policy.

It will NEVER make it out of the gate. Our district here in Marion County, Florida is under federal court ordered desegregation. The school board here had to create "Magnet Schools" to create a more racially balance population. Federal laws prevent school districts from doing what that senator from Nebraska has proposed.

Its really a stupid law that will die quickly. People naturally self segregate. When I was growing up in Prince George's County MD back in the 70's, we had court ordered busing. In those days, there was a white majority in the county. The end result was massive white flight from the county. A couple of years ago, the court ordered busing ended, because PG County is now majority black. We have magnet schools here too, but they are for advanced placement classes. Getting a balanced racial mix in PG County these days will just not happen.

Oh, and Ernie Chambers needs a toe broke off up his ass for getting behind this. Thanks for trying to throw civil rights back 60 years.

Two of my kids went to PG schools for a semester. My daughter was constantly being teased by the black girls for being mixed (read: 100x prettier than them). Even the teacher called her "white girl" but made it clear only *she* could say that.

Sadly, we didn't find out about this until after she had already left ths school or someone would be out of a job.

Now they live with their mother in Waldorf-another predominantly black area-and I could tell you some stories of the racial discrimination she, a white woman, has faced.

Being a minority doesn't mean you can't be a bigot.

What is best for the students?

Looks more like, What is the best way to pick peoples pockets to provide students a better education for those who they think will prosper in the future with better educational resources to possibly bring more business into Nebraska. Obviously the taxable liabilities will be within a + (4 section) and an X section of taxes takes money from prominent families living and attending school in a lower class area that white, Hispanic or black would be considered a minority??

The larger white section in 3 years needs a new school because that section with the money they save and earn in the community generates more housing in a specific section of town. Then I guess we'll have to take money from these 2 segregated schools to provide money for this huge section of town that proposes 2.5 mil. in new housing, new students, bigger school, More activities and after school programs. Leaving the Smaller lower class citizens not even a peep because as we see in politics today.. Money Talks.
(They don't listen to the voters anymore... cough Congress).

Don't think its only Omaha. I see it in the small cities and towns of about 38,000 due to the language barrier having to transform curriculum due to students not being able to speak English. The best I heard is Foreign language.. English speaking students learn Spanish and Spanish speaking students learn English. Even then residents look to the better schooling for their children. Leaving the Minority or lower class schools to fall further behind.


Segregation is wrong, teaching in it is wrong and working in it is wrong.

Umm.. when I turned 18 I left for a better $$ future somewhere else. Majority of the jobs provide a check to check lifestyle. What would you do to place your child into a more prominent school in hopes they become a Doctor, Banker, Business leader, Teacher or even a Lawyer, Move?

Better speak up now or the Govt. will continue to run your life and tell you how your going to live.

I don't know, that 500+ mile stretch on I-80, showed more cornfields than I ever care to see again, with the exception of the cow smog halfway through. I never want to see(smell) that again.
