Pffft..... Who needs fancy chemicals? A Lil' bleach + Ammonia or Calcium Chloride mixed together in a closed jar, opened in a small area and you have a nice way to gas people.

Model Rocket Engine Igniters make excellent uses for setting things off with an electric charge.

Then there's the old fashioned pipe bombs using match heads- do NOT drill a hole for fuse with the cap ON as some dumb books suggest.

The list goes on!!

There's plenty of home-made devices that work just as well as fancy chemicals. ;)

FYI: I live in an area where any kid with a brain has made these things for shits N giggles.

I was watching Seconds from Disaster, a tv show, and they described a huge fire fueled by margerine that burned hotter than truck fuel.

Who needs diesel when cooking oil will do just as well?

Pass the paranoia

You're not paranoid if they are really out to get you.

:) lol... the thing is, just like in 'brazil', they'll make mistakes with alllll that power.

pardon as i quote nearly all this one commenter from the kos thread:

"
Corey Maye was asleep in his home (a duplex) when he heard loud noises and assumed someone was breaking into his house. He ran to his daughter's bedroom and grabbed his gun, and shot the intruder.

The intruder was actually Ron Jones, the son of town police chief, who was not a regular member of the narcotics task force but a K9 officer for the Prentiss police department. Jones, though not a member of the Task Force, had received a confidential tip that large quantities of marijuana were being stored and sold in the apartment of Jamie Smith, who lived in the other half of the duplex. The officers apparently got one half of the duplex mixed up with the other as Maye was not a drug dealer, just a single father.

Tragically, Jones died, and Maye is now on death row in Mississippi."

more on that at http://www.theagitator.com/archives/025962.php

(btw, my apologies - no intent to hijack the thread...:) just too much scary shit out there to keep an eye out for...)

Stop spreading misinformation.

Washington -- The development of vehicles powered by hydrogen, ethanol or other alternative fuels is critical for reducing America's dependence on foreign oil sources, and so enhancing national security, President Bush says.

In remarks celebrating Earth Day April 22 in West Sacramento, California, Bush said the United States obtains much of its oil "from places that are unstable, and we get our oil sometimes from people that don't particularly care for us."

This situation creates a national security problem, he continued. "We do not want to be reliant upon unstable parts of the world. We don't want the lives of our people affected because some nation may not like us."

Reducing the country's oil usage through new technologies also would benefit the environment, Bush said.

"This nation does not have to choose between a strong economy and a clean environment; we can have both at the same time. And investing in new technologies like hydrogen will enable this economy to be strong, [and allow] people to be able to afford fuel," he said.

According to Bush, the United States has invested $10 billion over the past five years to encourage research and development of alternative-fuel technology. Since 2003, researchers have found ways to double the life of hydrogen fuel cell stacks and cut the cost of manufacturing hydrogen fuel cells in half. (See related article.)

Another positive development is the advent of hybrid vehicles, powered by special batteries to supplement their gasoline-powered engines, that can travel about twice as far as standard vehicles on the same amount of fuel, Bush said.

The president said the United States is dedicating $31 million annually to develop "plug-in hybrids" that can be charged through common household outlets and can store enough power to drive for 40 miles before recharging.

"A lot of people don't drive more than 40 miles a day in big cities," he noted. For these people, "we're developing a technology that says you'll drive by the use of electricity, and you won't use gasoline at all."

Ethanol is another promising area of research, Bush said.

"I like the idea of America's farmers being able to grow fuel. I like the idea of people saying, ‘my corn crop is up and, therefore, we're less dependent on oil from somewhere.’ And that's what we're beginning to do," he said.

Bush noted that standard vehicles currently can use gasoline-based fuel mixtures containing up to 10 percent ethanol.

"With minor modifications, cars and trucks can become what's called flex-fuel vehicles that run on a fuel blend called E-85, which is a mix of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline," he said.

Scientists also are researching ways to convert organic material such as wood chips or switch grass into ethanol, Bush said. (See related article.)

Throughout history, Americans have used technology to improve the quality of their lives, and alternative fuel technology should be no exception, Bush maintained.

"We're a technologically competent nation. We must always be on the leading edge of research and development in this country if we expect to be good stewards of the environment and make sure our people are able to find good work. That's the challenge," he said.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

agreed... actually it appears they want to stomp out any possible competition. (funny - capitalists stomping on competition!)

Outlawing something never prevents the intent and the will to carry out the result of the banned "something". For every banned item, there is a cheaper, easier thing out there that does the same damned thing.

The government would have to ban all sorts of household items to prevent people from making explosives and/or chemical weapons.

Not happy about Linden Labs purchase of XStreet (formerly SLX) and OnRez. Will this mean LL will ban resident run online shoping outlets in favor of their own?
