Are people in other civilized countries as nutty about politics as Americans? I'm not asking if you guys across the seas are interested in politics -- because that would be silly (okay, stupid). I'm asking if it turns you into such a psycho that you have to know about the personal lives of your political leaders at all times.
America HAD to know everything about Clinton's affair. Everything about Cheney's hunting accident. Just -- everything. We made this talk show quality crap into headlining international news.
And I don't think we should care. We didn't seem to care about Kennedy's more questionable actions in life, why do we care about these guys?
Is it totally an American thing? Is it another aspect of the reality TV problem we have over here? What the hell is going on over here?

The degree to which we should care is debatable, but it is much harder to keep things under the sheets these days. Also, people do not deify their leaders as faultless, trustworthy saints anymore. It turns out they are just like the rest of us selfish slobs.
