You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that, Leon?

There are two competing theories about the world-turtles. One is that the tortoises have always marched through the cosmos at a consistent rate and direction, and they will continue to do so indefinitely. This is the so-called "Steady Gait" theory.

The other is that they are converging on one location, where they will mate in a great cosmological orgy. This is the so-called "Big Bang" theory.

Cosmology humor. Gotta love it.

The turtles thing is based on Hindu beliefs, btw. They actually believe that it's true.
