"13:05:02 My favourite bit - a [big] stone turtle with a stone on his back. It reminded me of Terry Pratchett novels. "
Are Terry Pratchett novels like turtles with stones on their backs? Hmm... Maybe that's why I could never finish Good Omens.

I think it has something to do with Discworld, but who the hell knows.

You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that, Leon?

You know what a turtle is? Same thing. I've never seen a turtle... But I understand what you mean. _____________________

I've never seen a turtle... But I understand what you mean. Shall we continue? Describe in single words only the good things that come into your mind about... your mother. _____________________

In Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, the world (Discworld, that is) rests on the back of a giant tortoise. So do all the other worlds in the universe.
There are two competing theories about the world-turtles. One is that the tortoises have always marched through the cosmos at a consistent rate and direction, and they will continue to do so indefinitely. This is the so-called "Steady Gait" theory. The other is that they are converging on one location, where they will mate in a great cosmological orgy. This is the so-called "Big Bang" theory. Cosmology humor. Gotta love it. |

The turtles thing is based on Hindu beliefs, btw. They actually believe that it's true. |

"You know what a turtle is? Same thing." Similar, but not the same. Musuko. Musuko, click on the word "mother" in my post and you will see a pic from the scene the quotes are from. (From one of the best movies ever made, by the way) |
