I have always agreed though. Like Ian's statement and how he put it though :)

I love Ian. Imagine my astonishment when I (slowly) realized that Magneto from X-files was also Gandalf.

That was a moment of severe psychological dissonance for me.

Anyway, he's right. There should be a warning label.

I used to have a Gor persona named Ian Mckellen. Suprised me that he is ggay though, initially. Normally I can figure it out but its good to see I was wrong every now and then. His efforts for the LGBT are also applaudable.

From: Wikipedia reference
McKellen's father, Denis Murray McKellen, a civil engineer, was a lay preacher, and both of his grandfathers were preachers as well. His home environment was strongly Christian, but non-orthodox. "My upbringing was of low nonconformist Christians who felt that you led the Christian life in part by behaving in a Christian manner to everybody you met."[1] When he was 12, his mother, Margery Lois McKellen (née Sutcliffe) died; his father died when he was 24. When he came out of the closet to his stepmother, Gladys McKellen, who was a Friend (Quaker): "Not only was she not fazed, but as a member of a society which declared its indifference to people's sexuality years back, I think she was just glad for my sake that I wasn't lying any more." [1]

Perhaps its this balanced and openminded, accepting youth that brings about his efforts and openness in equality for all. Damn good source for a source of humor too! :D

However, Captain Ahab is as real as you or me.

Discuss. :)

He also stars in an awesome version of Shakespeare's Richard III that is set in an alternative Fascist England setting kind of like what I would imagine Britain might have been if Hitler had won WW II, as well as playing the Nazi war criminal in Stephen King's Apt Pupil. He is a fabulous actor.

It was an interesting concept movie. I Love shakespeare's plays, but all these recent versions where they change the setting are less fun than keeping them in context. I do have to admit that keeping the original dialogue is better than what hollywood used to do.

I always adored Sir Ian from the first time I saw him in a role (Richard III).

And there's a reason the bible is filed, along with the Quran and Bhagavad Gita... next to greek, norse and egyptian myths in my bookshelves.
