Since some of us can't resist discussing the topics that one is not supposed to discuss in good company(Religion and Politics), maybe we can segregate these topics into a sub forum of off topic called, Politics & Religion

kinda like notices and well wishes in general

For every one of my Bush threads, someone starts an abortion, or creationism, or death penalty, or God does/doesn't exsist or whatever that I don't want to accidently get involved with

Putting these inflamatory topics further down will allow others to use "off topic" for what it was intended (polls about pie , parody, home sex tape swap) without accidently stumbling into the muck

those of us ready to do battle for our cause can click one extra time to go into the battleground, and we won't end up accidently insulting some confused n00b who wanted to discover the joys of SL forums and happened to chime in at the wrong time in an explosive thread

seriously, this is no joke

you should not discuss these issues as a guest of someone somewhere, as the potential for the fun to get spoiled is great

in a civilized society, we need a place to go when we want to "take it outside"

and a "Religion & Politics" Sub Forum is it

Am I right?

(pie for those that agree)

Oh yes, we must protect newbies from actual debate. They can't handle such hot topics.

These newbies will feel much more at home with the SL insiders cracking inside jokes about pie options in a poll about pie.

I see, debating issues is trolling, insider jokes from the SL oldbies is why LL provides these forums. Amazing, simply amazing. Thank you for this most valuable information.

I am basically brushing you off

there is nothing more to it than that. I am not agreeing with anything you are proposing, merely swatting a rather annoying fly

Naahh, making off-color jokes about religion and politics is what off-topic is all about. Of course, that opinion may be the direct result of me being raised in a family that has the bad manners to bring them up at almost every social event.

I think just a sub-group of general called "Kevin" is all that's necessary.

That's fine. I see no merit in your posts anyhow. Bye.

Being polite is a sign of maturity. Don't feel bad about being polite. :)

What won't happen?!?

You can't just leave us hanging with half a statement like that!

Ooh, I know!

Jesus dies and goes up to Heaven. The first thing he does is look for his father, as he has never met the man before and is curious as to what he looks like, and whether or not Jesus looks like his mother or father, etc. He looks high and low but cannot find him.

He asks St. Peter "Where is my father?" But St. Peter says he doesn't know.

He asks the archangel Gabriel "Where is my father?" But Gabriel doesn't know.

He asks John the Baptist "Where is my father?" But John does not know. So he wanders Heaven, impatiently searching.

Suddenly he sees out of the mist an old man coming toward him. The man is very old, with white hair, stooped over a little. "Stop!" Jesus yells. "Who are you?"

"Oh, please help me, I am an old man in search of my son." Jesus is very curious. Could this be his father? "Tell me of your son, old man."

"Oh, you would know him if you saw him. Holes in his hand where the nails used to be, he was nailed to a cross, you know..."

"Father !!" Screams Jesus.

"Pinocchio !!" yells the old man.

*waits to find out what happens*

That baffled me too. It must be a "faith thing" that relieves people of the burden of making points that are understandable by anyone other than God.

Say YES to run-on sentences. :D
