Hey, all that money has to go somewhere and I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the current administration, patronage, or corporacracy.

Also, I find myself on the planet Ogo, part of an intellectual elite, preparing to subjugate the barbarian hordes on Pluto. But even though this is a totally convincing reality for me in every way, nevertheless Ogo is actually a construct of my psyche.

You mean Ogo isn't the 10th planet? :D

This just proves that it's not the war that is raising prices, it's the companies. But everyone already knew that.

From: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/energy_congress_gasoline_dc

Exxon Mobil said on Monday it earned $10.7 billion in the fourth quarter of last year and $36.1 billion for all of 2005 -- bigger than the economies of 125 countries.

hmmm

From: someone
Officials from six major oil companies have refused to testify this week at a Senate hearing looking into whether oil industry mergers in recent years have made gasoline more expensive at the pump.

...

The FTC is investigation whether oil companies manipulated gasoline prices and oil refining production levels. The agency plans to finish its probe and send its findings to Congress this May.

nah, couldn't be

From: G.W. Bush

I think that basically the price is determined by the marketplace and that's the way it should be

From: someone

(Bush) said the profit reflected the market and that consumers socked with soaring energy costs should not expect price breaks.

Ah yes, the classic bait and switch.

Step 1: Offer tax breaks on larger, gas-guzzling behemoths.
Step 2: Get oil buddies to raise prices.
...
Profit!*

*And use the money to drive GDP and new job figures, too!

I give the current administration an A for intelligence and an F for ethics. Though lumping Bush and Cheney together would average at around a C, for reference.
