Yeah, they were really close because of all that they'd been through together and the fact that Frodo would never have made it without Sam there to help him. Whatever the case, though, the Sam-Frodo-Gollum triangle was pretty clear. Hobbits seem pretty much open to new experiences, anyway - not a big deal. Pippin seemed pretty happy riding along with that Rohan warrior maiden, eh? Tell me nothing crossed his mind - sure, just tell me that.
