None, they're all alts... probably under age ones too... At least, anyone with that level of economics expertese must be in at least primary school by now. Actually, I'm 38, and was a political science major in college. And I think that the loss of the net neutrality provisions are bad. You may have the idea that people who have been in favor of eliminating the basic stipend are all some sort of pro-business ultra-conservative ogre's, but I personally am actually liberal. I just happen to think that being in favor of social justice, in favor of universal health care and in favor of caring for those who can't care for themselves does not require me to feel that a grave injustice is being done if LL no longer hands out a free 16 cents a week to everyone who wants it in order to help keep the overall value of the $L up. Liberal as I am IRL, I fail to see the injustice in suggesting that someone who can afford DSL and a high end computer for SL can probably make up loss of 64 cents a month out of pocket. Just saying... |

Is there a point in resurrecting this discussion about a 3-month old decision? The net neutrality debate is still very much alive in the senate. So the house made a dark-side decision last June, so what? The senate still gets to have their say before anything is enacted into law, and as of the last committe vote on the subject, the committee was tied. The full vote senate vote could still go either way.

I don't want to be the one to snap this one into context that noone is openly addressing, but I guess I'llbe the one.
It's what we all think but havent' said here today.
A privatized internet, dominated by the corporations, would be the end of Second Life. Due to the mature content, it would be tolled or blocked into nonexistence. The Lindens could try to nix the mature content, but that would just kill business. What could have eventually been the new Internet via a metaverse would die, like so many other innovations, due to the selfish and greedy legislation of conservatives and powermongers.
I'd encourage everyone to take a moment from our normal forum behavior and dismissal to let sink in the impact of these decisions. The primary tool used to inform the people of what hurts them and provide them means to be free is falling apart at the hands of our government.
THen resume about our way....but your heart should feel a bit heavier today.
