I have a iPod Nano and I had to reset it completely(back to factory settings/deleted all my songs too.) I saved my songs on my harddrive before I did that so at least I still have them...but once I got it all set up again(loaded the songs using EphPod) it came time to "eject" the ipod so I could unplug it from my PC. I know I should use iTunes but I hate that program! So I just went to My Computer, rightclicked the iPod drive-eject. This usually works just fine. Since then my iPod has had the same apple screen with the backlight on, I even tried reseting my iPod(holding the middle button and Menu at the same time...this just makes the screen go blank and then back to the apple screen with backlight on. Now I can't seem to shut it off at all, or get it to show up on my PC. Anyone else have this problem!?

Also look for a the new iPod update. I think it is 1.1 or something like that. Use iTunes to reset your iPod. Then you can go from there. Refusing to use the iTunes with your iPod is like buying a Tivo and then refusing to get the TV Guide subscription with all the programming info. Make your life easier... use iTunes. ![]() Troy _____________________

Yes. But he's a PC user. Maybe (for some inconceivable reason) he doesn't want a complete bareback assraping from Apple's DRM and less-than-subtle system takeover. It's almost as bad as installing AOL.

Well as I said. If you're buying an iPod, you're buying iTunes. so you better like the ass-ramming.

I remember you! :} Thanks for the advice, at the moment the help desk guy at my work who used to work for Apple is unsaudering the battery from the Nano. He tried a few things earlier none of them worked. Looks like i'm in the market for an Archos or something.

Oh well I just ordered an Archos Gmini 402 20 GB portable media player, my boyfriend has one and it's pretty good for the money, better than my broken iPod thats for sure. I'll have to get used to a larger mp3 player but at least I can watch videos on it!

I hated iTunes and in a way I was glad when my POS iPod mini died, it was a piece of junk. I scrubbed down my hard drive with bleach, but I can still smell the nastyness that is iTunes wafting from the computer case on warm days.

As a long time Mac user who recently built a PC just for SL, I tend to agree.. iTunes for Windows isn't as slick and well integrated as the windows counterpart, even though the UI is the same.
That being said, I bought the first gen iPod 5gb shortly after it came out, and got a 60gb iPod with video for xmas. They are by far the slickest mp3 players on the market and I wouldn't give mine up. As for DRM, well, the WMA DRM encrusted crap is just that.. sure there's more places to buy it from, but it feels more restictive than Fairplay (Apple's DRM). Then again, what do I care, I only listen to my old CD collection I encoded into MP4 and non-DRM'd MP4 music I buy from AllofMP3.com. Whatever makes ya happy, go with it. |
