I just wanted to make absolutely sure because if it's not there's a whole lot of people who need to be informed about that.

Apparently not, since it seems so vitally important to Christians to have it everywhere, all the time

Best faith-oriented question to date!
In my perfect world, church would be fundamentally devoid of all legal and institutional/organizational/supervisory roles as described in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion Religion (see etymology below) —sometimes used interchangeably with faith or belief system—is commonly defined as belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions and rituals associated with such belief. In its broadest sense some have defined it as the sum total of answers given to explain humankind's relationship with the universe. In the course of the development of religion, it has taken many forms in various cultures and individuals. Occasionally, the word "religion" is used to designate what should be more properly described as "organized religion" – that is, an organization of people supporting the exercise of some religion, often taking the form of a legal entity (see religion-supporting organization). There are many different religions in the world today. *Emphasis mine. _____________________

If the universe was created through intelligent design, do you think we could get the guy who designed it to take a look at the source code for Second Life?

Or at least explaing to me why my sim FPS is 45 but my own FPS is 11.2 (wtf?). I'm using a Radeon 9800 Pro. I have more than enough RAM, dual channel mobo, blah blah blah. Maybe it's because I have no faith. Is faith the key to getting a higher FPS? Do I need to sacrifice some animals to see SL with the illusion of continuous motion instead of seeing it more jerky than a slim jim? _____________________

Religion should be allowed anywhere, as per the constitution. As per your incorrect interpretation of the constitution. _____________________

Is PIE allowed in church? ![]() Many churches have lunches and dinners and St. Alfonso's has pancake breakfasts. Churches serve a valuable function of acting as meeting places where people together and interact with an emphasis on "not being bad". Looking in the yellow pages at the Unitarian church ad there was a display ad with a big headline abougt the single dances. Heh heh, more about the socializing aspect than about the doctrine. It's too bad church services have to have such boring sermons and devote so much time to hearing really bad singers sing. Get rid of the pews, install hundreds or thousands of computers, have giant LAN parties instead of listening to sermons. Instead of the banshee singers collective, have a nice stereo cranking out Pink Floyd, with live pipe organ accompaniment. Then church would be fun! Strobe lights, color organs, and a laser display on the domed planetarium roof would be good too. I think a pie stand could be wedged into that sort of church just fine. I suggest it go right next to the marijuana vending machine. _____________________

Maybe it's because I have no faith. Is faith the key to getting a higher FPS? Do I need to sacrifice some animals to see SL with the illusion of continuous motion instead of seeing it more jerky than a slim jim? I'm getting 90 FPS now! Whoo hoo! Unfortunately it's because the system lost track of me AGAIN flying around the D-A-M-B intersection at the WA, and though I knew I would have to restart the program AGAIN, I decided to teleport ot Ahern just to see what kind of screwiness SL would do. Apparently it teleported me to "Morris 2876, 3072"! I never realized Morris was so big! How it can display such a uniform field of blue at 90 FPS is beyond me. To respond to the actual content of your post, I have an adequate system, and it has been getting between 8 and 13 FPS at the welcome area, depending on which way you are looking and where you are standing at. It did better before 1.7 . Sigh, there was one version of 1.5 that was only active for a few hours. That was the keeper. For a few hours SL worked right. It was paradise, heaven on earth , the Garden of Eden. Then that snakey looking guy gave me an apple and all hell broke loose. _____________________

Sick of it
11-13-2005 11:58
You know....
Some people who don't believe in God, or salvation, or heaven, or hell, or the Messiah, or souls, or prayer, or holiness, or angels, or devils, or crosses, or idols get really sick of those who argue over what religion even is. Religion is the hope of following a set of rules, to be given a reward. Included in those rules is making others follow those rules. Thus I treat it as it is. A virus. |

Religion is the hope of following a set of rules, to be given a reward. Included in those rules is making others follow those rules. Thus I treat it as it is. A virus. Crosses do exist, I have seen them, I have seen them dangling from people's ears, and made from purple neon tubes in the windows of tacky churches. Denying the existence of crosses is carrying skepticism a bit too far. Just look at the lower case t, for example, in the phrase "lower case t". See - that's a cross. _____________________
