first, let me readily admit that this came from the Drudge Report, but it seems plausible enough.. so, onward..

so this link should take you to the page with the story, but i'm not sure if it's a link to the specific story or to Drudge Report headline stories as they appear.

i once read a story in a sci-fi anthology (Universe 1) that was about people having personal bots that hovered about them, recording (or streaming?) video of their everyday lives to (i think) some sort of personal internet t.v. station. when i read that (almost a decade and a half ago) i wondered how long it would be until we saw this happening. i figured it was only a matter of time.. apparently, that time is about 15 - 20 years. i'm sure this tech will easily find it's way onto the commercial market, regardless of privacy issues.. i mean, we'll already be used to that intrusion from the governments use of the "Dragon Eye". ;)

i can't say i approve of this development, in fact it's downright frightening. but, it's also inevitable to a degree. the wave of techolution lumbers on, peripherally color-blind and enthusiastic in it's tunnel vision of the future.

so, putting on my virtual blinders for a moment, when can we expect this type of device in SL? the hard part being, how could we embue a flying device with camera controls instead of exclusive to avatar use? or can we do this already?

We're reaching a point in our civilization where, in our lifetime, we will have access to knowledge about everyone.

Imagine a world where everyone can know anything about anybody ...

Except about those who control the information.
