I am completely shocked. The city is so greedy I can't believe they would turn down this chance. The Olympics is just not gonna happen.

Who said politics has to be rational, Eboni?

Chicago is a Democrat town, has been for ages now, since before the 20th century IIRC. That they wouldn't care to play host to the Republican Party's national convention, whereas they were more than happy to host the 1996 Democratic Party convention, is hardly surprising.

As for the "war criminals" thing...

Look in the mirror! This conflict was agreed on my both of your political parties. In any case name calling is not going to get you anywhere except intense HATRED. In my own country I do not agree with or vote for the LDP but give them the respect due them and not resort to name calling.

Perhaps you might get a better response rewording your objections and trying to influence them by other means. Common interests and respect will do more for you and your causes then making people that disagree with you enemies.

Mayor Daley cares more about $$$$$ than anything else. He works well across political lines. I seriously doubt the city passed it up on polical reasons. It is more likely they passed because the cost of extra cops doesn't offset the economic windfall to the city. Although next time Mayor Daley complains conventions are down in the city, one of the smartass Chicago reporters can ask why they turned down the RNC.

Yes, Chicago is a democratic town, but the rest of the state with the exception of the college campuses are red counties.
