I don't frequent Starbucks, I don't even like coffee (gasps). I did find it stimulating and intriguing, however, to find this news article (one of several differing viewpoints). Starbucks has released a new promotional campaign called "The Way I See It" which is their standard paper cups with quotes from notable/or notorious (take your pick) Authors and other public figures printed on them. Starbucks has a disclaimer on their website saying the quotes are not necessarily the viewpoints of Starbucks. One quote which has sparked controversy in the religious conservative sector of American society is quote #43. It is a quote from Amistead Maupin , whose "Tales of the City" chronicled gay life in San Francisco's homosexual in the 1970s and 1980s. The quote says: "My only regret about being gay is that I repressed it for so long. I surrendered my youth to the people I feared when I could have been out there loving someone. Don't make that mistake yourself. Life's too damn short."
Apparently Baylor University in Waco, Texas (a prominent Southern Baptist based university) has forced the campus Starbucks to remove this specific cup because it supposedly promotes the "Homosexual Agenda." Every time I hear that word, "Homosexual Agenda" I have to laugh. Do I as a homosexual have an agenda? I can hardly keep my life organized, who are they kidding!? :p Even though this story broke back in September I just wanted to share this and get possible feedback and/or dialogue :).

7:45 am - shower and shave
8:00 am - dress
8:15 am - Starbucks for a Venti coffee w/an add shot
8:30 am - commute to work
9:30 am - sift through work email
10:30 am - hit the Peet's coffee machine at the office for round #2
11:00 am - gay break
12:00 noon - take coworker to Mini dealer for a test drive - do not let her buy anything

The rest of the gay agenda is played by ear.

I have always heard that partners who constantly accuse you of cheating all the time are probably doing so because they are cheating (or would cheat) themselves.

I draw that analogy because I think that people who have extreme agendas (like organizations that oppose homosexuals or oppose sex for anything except procreation), tend to assume that anyone who does not share their views MUST also have an agenda.

I think that this assumption is really just a smaller part of their greater delusions of persecution, I say "delusions" since here in the U. S. how many zealots have you read about lately who have be beaten senseless or burned at the stake?

These type of people are always highly suspicious, that they will be conspired against, spied upon or cheated, or maligned by a person, group, or governmental agency.

The sad irony is - they are usually the ones administering the beatings to the very groups they fear. :(
