- MD - a different theory

The existence of tooth decay,

the tendency for men to have hair grow on their ears and the tip of their nose when they get old, I mean, for gosh sake they get bald on the top of their heads, what do the hair roots do, just slide down, pulled by sagging jowls,

the way the little handle thing on the inside of the window screen broke right off when I tried to use it, leaving me with a screen trying to fall out and not much to hold it with,

the fact that on many beautiful days some jackass on the maintenance crew thinks it's time to run the leaf blower,

the fact that something makes my back hurt real real bad when I sit in chairs that other people find comfortable,

the tendency of nights with rare celestial events to be cloudy, peaking right at the time of maximum annoyance,

these and a thousand things more tempt me to support MD, the theory of Malevolent Design.

I also want people to use ID as meaning Insane Designer, which makes sense, and I'd liek to see some jokes about the ID in intelligent design instead meaning ID as in EGO and SUPEREGO, and I'd like for someone to bring up the Wizard of ID, plus someone needs to make some jokes about ID standing for Intelligent Dinosaurs.

I support this theory.

My post wasn't real good, in my view, but I do like the phrase "The Theory of Malevolent Design", and I wanted to get that out before I forgot about it.


"ID" meaning intelligent dinosaurs could lead to nice silly pictures of dinosaurs in suits with glasses on giving lectures and writing equations on chalkboards. Maybe some of the dinosaurs could be making statements to the effect the the marvelously interconnected design of the dinosaur body clearly demonstrated that the universe did not evolve from the operation of natural laws working randomly, but must have the result of an intelligent designer. Other's might argue that various flaws in dinosaur properties such as being cold blooded clearly showed that the big dinosaur in the sky, if he existed, must been gorged after a big meal on a cold day when he came up with the plans for reality.


That reminds me of a cartoon I saw that showed animals in a barn, they are speaking in high-powered calculus equations to each other. The farmer enters the barn, the animals switch to Moo and Baah and Arf. Farmer leaves, the math discussion goes on.

Childbirth convinced me of Malevolent Design. Like trying to get a couch through a mail slot.

I watch both UD and MD with fascination, and wonder if someday there will be proof that will converge these two philosophies into one unified people.

So, shall we begin a search for UMD?

I remember when my primal, repressed urges and needs (Freudian id) formed a game development company many years ago and produced the "Commander Keen" series of games (id software) - That was the most fantastic and intelligently designed adventure I experienced in a long time. Well, until they made Doom a couple years later... Also, "ID" can stand for "Imaginary Deity"
