I wanted to take a moment to thank all my SL friends who donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as sponsors of my Family's participation in Light the Night in Ocean Grove, New Jersey.
My Children and I raised over $3000, with more than $400 coming from my SL friends! As a Leukemia Patient I can not begin to tell you how much this means to me! With the US Government cutting funding for research and support for Stem Cell therapies and other related treatments, private support has become all the more important.
More than 700,000 Americans suffer from Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma. Leukemia is the single most deadly disease to children under the age of 15. Every 5 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer, and every 9 minutes someone dies from it.
Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide evening Walk to build awareness of blood cancers and raise funds for cures. Walkers carry illuminated balloons-white for survivors and red for supporters-to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer.
Funds raised by participants support the Society's mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
