Received one of those internet chain letters, about the plight of people in Chile at risk of having their very pure water source contaminated by gold mining. The plan of the company Barrick Gold Corp of Canada, includes drilling through glaciers etc. I never pass on these things in their email chain letter form... but if the source is one I trust I go looking for the story. I found the same story over and over again, but this article seems as balanced as any other. http://www.planetsave.com/ps_mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6713&Itemid=38I thought you might be interested. Whether you join the chain letter is a personal decision, but I think writing to the Canadian government, and the company, might be a more effective thing. Cali

What good would it do to have Americans mailing the Canadian Government or Barrick Gold Corp.? How can we be effective when we don't even live in that country? What force would our letters have? Briana Dawson

Off the top of my head, I can think of a dozen causes worth more effort, and really, what does writing a letter accomplish?
Starting the week cynical!

They will be polluting our water far less than we already do ourselves.
