Regardless of your positions, there are nine constitutional amendments on the ballot, today, including Prop 2: The so-called "gay-marriage ban."

I, of course, am strongly supporting a NO vote on prop 2. The important thing, though, is that ppl get out and vote.

Do it! You know you wanna. ;)

I hear yeah, Lio! Well, as expected, the bigots are winning in Texas. No surprise, but highly disappointing.

Hopefully - it would serve them right.

Read the results this morning. So, so sorry. :( :( :(

I am hoping that *all* marriage is now anulled.

Technically, yes. But I have it good authority that it would take a huge legal warchest to fight the necessary court battles to make that loophole stick...

Not only proposed, but PASSED! All under the auspices of moral indignation... Any job openings in Ireland, mate? I'm a tekkie, too! ;-)

Yeah, but definately worth it. I can think of a few politicians I don't particularly like that love to tout family values around that would look pretty stupid being no longer married.

It's a shame to see that sort of terrorism pass in the United States.

But you better hurry...

Firstly, they're enforcing an old law that "forbids marriage licsecnes to out of state couples who's marriage would be illeagal in their home state". You can get around this by living in MA long enough to establish residency (I heard of places that rent just for this purpose).

Secondly, the lawmakers are moving to get an amendment on the ballot to ban gay marriage. That'll be a while yet, but I don't honestly know how a vote would come out. :(

Caveats are that sometimes I miss updates, but that was the status last time I heard.

--Zuzu: single in MA ;)

It was supposed to be in 1988, but I think God was so irked about the Iran-Contra affair that he called the whole thing off.

Anybody that voted for the amendment doesn't deserve to be married, regardless of their whatever. But that's just me, and my vote alone couldn't stop the nonsense.

On the other hand, it isn't just me. Did you see, dear Paolo, where Austin --- or was it even all of Travis County? --- was the only area that voted overwhelmingly AGAINST the amendment.

Cold comfort, I know. But I hope it --- and your job and your friends (and the Hike & Bike Trail?) --- keeps you in Austin. The city can never have too many men walking around with those Paul Newman eyes you have ... :)

Awww, thanks for the nice compliment! And yes, I did see that Travis County (the blue island in a sea of red) overwhelmingly defeated the amendment. Maybe we can secede from the Republic of Texas...hmmm...
