Recently, a resident discussed his opinion of ResMods. The rest of us were fairly astounded by his controversial suggestion on moderation

From: Tren Neva
When you're in a forum, it's not a matter of real life vs non-real lifeness like a movie or a video game. You are having conversations just like you would have in real life, just using the internet as a tool to do so instead. All social standards apply to the forums just like they would in real life, and when you start saying things that would get you beat in real life on the forums, you should be beat in real life.

Now my question is, should resmods be able to to dole out corporal (or capital) punishment?

Would an opinion such as this effect your respect for someone as a resmod or in positions of authority or responsibility who have access to your personal information, like, say, banking or financial for instance? Would your information or, gasp, your money be safe if you disagreed with a person who would beat you in real life if you said something disagreeable?

Would this type of punishment for forum infractions improve or harm our close knit forum community family?

I think the moderation is strict enough, so save the beatings for when you are drunk and your old lady pisses you off so you whup the dog to prove your "machismo"!

BAD idea, Mulch! Gas is too expensive for them to drive all over the place beating up everyone that would need to be beaten.

I say that, of course, knowing that I myself would probably be on the receiving end of such a beating at some point or other.

:p

I am moving this to SL ResMods forum and locking it

This thread as it's inappropriate for the SL Forums.

Well, I don't see a violation of the Guidelines here. Now, serious physical violence is not a funny thing but this thread looks like it might as well be rolling in the aisles, and headed towards Off-Topic. So I'm going to put it there. And--

Why isn't "pro wrestling" an option?

We are, after all, all pro wrestlers in the ring of Second Life! ;)

Ty Torley

I had no clue what i did that time to get Resmodded

and yes, i have been remiss about listing pro wrestling

but it hasn't been entertaining in like 5 years

since the mid-late 90's up until about 3 months ago, i watched rasslin' every monday and thurs/friday

and i neglected to add a piledriver option on a post i started on Wrestlemania day!!!

:(

Yes. I think people that post incredibly stupid things should be beaten, severely. Not just for their post, but to wake them up to the fact that they're stupid, and are airing it for all to see, and giving me a headache in the process. It's a public service, really.

As for the net-nannies that just want everyone to be happy and nice and polite and administer group hugs and therapy.. I think a good, vigorous shaking-until-teeth-rattle would do the trick.

I'll volunteer.

That would be the only thing that would get me to be a ResMod. It sounds like a tedious, thankless task without visceral beating thrills.
