I was totally let down when the patients were only "mentally ill" and not Down's syndrome patients.

You should already know how I feel about that, but that is not todays news.

Or maybe it is...

Boy, you are "special"

doesn't the fact that they had the nerve to bill the families for this "care" make up for the lack of an extra chromosone?

No. Imagining pug-like faces scrunched up is much darker. The aneuploidy is key. :D

Kansas rewrites definition of science to allow for ID

That's my vote - although I find it more humorous than sad. Residents of Kansas must feel especially proud to be the laughing stock of the nation and the world. Feel good?

I didn't see an option for "News agency makes money while thousands consume human misery for entertainment."

The human head bowling ball - only because it led me to see this disgusting story:

Toddler's leg reattached

Jamie Duncan
07nov05

SURGEONS have reattached a toddler's leg in a marathon operation as his mother, accused of severing the limb with an axe, undergoes psychiatric assessment.

The 17-month-old boy was rushed to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital after his mother allegedly attacked him at a house at Mont Albert, in the city's east, early today.

Police said an axe had been used in the attack.

Hospital spokeswoman Julie Webber said a team of three plastic surgeons, two orthopaedic surgeons, a general surgeon, two anaesthetists and five nurses worked for more than eight hours to save the boy's leg.

"He is in a critical but stable condition in intensive care," Ms Webber said.

"We won't know until the end of the week if the reattachment was successful."

Acting Sergeant Andrew Huntington said the boy's 21-year-old mother was arrested at the Bundoran Parade home after police were called to the scene about 2am (AEDT).

The Department of Human Services was investigating the incident.

"We have no idea as to what led to it, what caused it (the attack), and the 21-year-old female is obviously assisting police with our inquiries," Sgt Huntington said.

"As to what took place, we really don't know at this stage.

"There were other occupants in the house and they were asleep at the time and heard the commotion.

"One of the female occupants called the ambulance, who in turn called police."

The scene was a difficult one for emergency crews to confront, Sgt Huntington added.

"I have an 11-week-old daughter myself and it's a bizarre scene to go to, but you've got to go there and do your job," he said.

The boy's mother was taken to Nunawading police station before being transferred to Box Hill Hospital for psychiatric assessment.

WTF is wrong with people anyway?
