Having recently obtained my Amatuer Radio Operators License in the past week, and finding all the local radio operators as being an anti social bunch, I was just wondering how many Radio Hams there were in SL.

Because of stringent budgets, I am currently restricted to VHF and UHF Comms, however theres always use of IRLP and Echolink :)

My Call is VK7FBCS, so you could probably work out a lot from that ;) Anway, hoping to hear from some hams in this forum ;)

Congratulations Chage,

I am an amateur radio operator of the VE7 region. 30 MHz and up. Largely 2 meters with low power.

Being on the west coast QTH, I enjoy QSO's with SAREX and the ISS. Likewise several contacts with U5MIR, U4MIR and R2MIR. (For those who don't know, they are cosmonauts aboard the Mir Space Station, which is no longer in orbit)

Are you aware of SuitSat Weedy? IIS people are dropping a spacesuit with a radio in it out as a satellite for contacting any day now?

That's new to me, but I will look into it. Got the frequency? ARRL project?

This cool, I have SSTV software. I will post a pic when I capture it.

Do you have SSTV and a Sat Tracker?.....I use SatSpy.

So do you HAM folks all look like the stereotypical hairy overweight beast who lives in his mother's basement only crawling into the light when he has to fix a malfunctioning antenna? How do you tap out "virgin" in Morse code again? :D

I'm just kiddin' you know. Like the rest of us pasty-faced gaming introverts are any better, eh?

You know Ulrika, when you were prancing around doing you pro government thing when you first started, I used to despise you.

These days I think you are one of the best damn people I have never really met :D I actually hang out for your forum posts and stuff ;)

Back on topic, there would appear to be a grand total of two ham operators in SL? :P

There's a HAM operator in my house but he no longer practices and refuses to give his handle because it's too long, whatever that could mean.

*clears throat* Make that 3. Allow me to introduce myself. I am KE5FUR in North Texas. *waves* I'm stuck using a handheld Icom IC-V8, so we're talking really low power here. Good to meet the rest of you!

I am. Not posting up my callsign here for reasons of anonymity, but PM me and I'll let you know. It's an M1 prefix.

I've got a Yaesu FT767-GX and a Hustler vertical in the garden - mostly tend to go portable with Summits on the Air, though - then I'm on an FT817 and a home-made vertical with a fishing pole!

Still listening for suitsat.. it's out there floating around right now, but seems to be having problems.

Anyway, hiya hams.. I've got a call that starts with KD7 ^.^ my entire ham shack is a Radio Shack HTX-202 2m hand-held. Someday, I'll upgrade so that I can actually get on HF (stupid code requirement) and then I'll get a good base station.

Heidi ho! I'm KI4ILU from Harrisonburg, VA. I have a Kenwood HT and an Icom Ic-208 mobile, and I'm trying to prod my boyfriend to get his HAM license too.

There's an in-game group for HAMers, do a search for SL Amateur Radio sometime, and send me an IM with your callsign.
