heeeeey, random-thoughts time again!! :) i'm feeling great today (though the chilly turn in temperature has given me the feeling of a constant cold; think it's gonna be difficult to adjust to the cold this year!) - i think my streak of bad luck is finally making its u-turn, and am looking forward to the rest of this month (though my new job will probably interrupt most h'ween festivities...)

i've seen a few really, really nice, tasteful rl h'ween displays around town and out in the countryside - none of those garish cheapo walmart lawn decorations yet, lol!! :) nothing like seeing warm-looking pumpkins glowing in windows... mmm, they must smell good!

fall is always 'skinny puppy' time in my seasonal music rotation; a few of my friends and i always went to their shows, which often fell in the fall (esp. 'too dark park', which is probably my #1 recommended album for those interested in industrial). here's one i'm listening to a lot right now though from 'rabies'; an old goth friend of mine -loves- to dance to this, and she always looks terrific doing so... :)

Skinny Puppy - Worlock

(now is the only the thing that's real...)
binge, cringe...
(the police used to watch over the people, now they're watching the people...)
sloppy...
(now is the only the thing that's real...)

sloppy, mincing, eye-dropping...
biopsy cyclops overlooks...
optic options, rotten...
show-stopper, skin-popper...
amputate...

self-confessed criminal, tore pen in vain...
instant still-spellbound...
game-stock, talk-back rock... re-encounter incident
subsistance in-existant
(now is the only the thing that's real...)

non-committed, unwitted, oblivious...
habitual resistor...
roughed-up edge, fluent nudge, pre-collect ignition...
motivation inexistant...

wasted views...
that's all they see blue,
hot blood, guilt,
optic nerve...

with the right attitude,
you will succed blue,
self-abusive recluse,
too late for me...

make shifting peace, unsettling
i'm crazy, doing crazy things...
keep your eyes open, soft-spoken
changes nothing, a view so cruel, a view...

dog's body comatose, torchlight roast
disinterest... disinfect...
retold, impressed by possession...
insiders know refresh, detained contest...

off and pure...
short night...
freeze in time, shadows climb, distractions override...
instincts evolve, over and over...

(do you, don't you want me to make you...
it's comin' down fast but don't let me break you...
tell me, tell me, tell me the answer...
you may be a lover, but you ain't no dancer.)

wasted truth, why call at all blue,
hot lines, eventual decline...
with the right attitude, you will succed, blue...
resent that discontent, sidestep...

define the state of things, so far...
crazy things, soft-spoken, open-eyed
with your eyes open, you know soft-spoken
changes nothing, a view so cruel...

nothing
view so cruel...
view so cruel...
a view so cruel...

binge, cringe... on the fringe...
sloppy, cyclops, rotten...
showstopper, skinpopper...

change, change, change...

(now is the only the thing that's real.)

------------------------

happy pre-h'ween!! :) so what's on your minds tonight??

Scratch Acid.

i once drew a picture (about 10 years ago) while tripping on acid, listening to the Scratch Acid tape i had.. over and over. (yeah, tape.. remember those? lol)

ended up scaring the hell out of someone who was there.. i held it up in front of "the snow channel" on tv and it made it all shifty and melty looking..

she told me that if it was a good thing i didn't finish it, cause it would've ended up being a gate for a demon to come through!

and to be honest.. she might've been right.

..in other words.. good album! lmao

Ps - Skinny Puppy is a NECESSITY in industrial listening pleasure.. and yes, Too Dark Park is an all time classic!

-scratch acid- ... i -know- i've heard a little from friends at the time, but never collected; i'll have to see if i can pull up some samples and see if i feel like adding them to my amazon 'wishlist'... :) oh, miss those days of bumming rides to chicago for industrial shows at the metro, listening to a plethora of un-radio-played bands... :)

oh, sooooo many tapes to replace with cds (where available:)... i've started mp3-ing my tapes, but due to current technological restrictions too lengthy to expound upon, i probably won't be able to finish that project anytime soon... :)

but fortunately, i have pretty much the whole skinny puppy catalog on cd... i suppose every generation finds its own band that evolves at the same pace as they, and sp seems to be mine. ogre and cevin (of course, sadly minus dwayne:( played a year ago november over at bogart's in cincinatti (where, the very -first- time i saw them, was the infamous 'arrest' incident:)... a friend of mine that is also a long-time fan, but had -never- seen them, came along with... was a wonderful night of industrial/political rage.

ahhhhhh... and acid, and art, and art and acid... :) hehe... sighhhh. :) lol... had to be late, what, 1990? 91? 'tdp' had been released, as i listened to it probably three times in a row, staggering two beautiful california-brewed hits, straight from the dropper onto sugarcubes... 'tdp', plus tear garden's 'tired eyes slowly burning'... drawing, drawing, drawing with fluorescent crayolas by blacklight... ahhhhhh... :)

there needs to be three different bulbs for scanners, one 'real light', one 'black light', one tuned specifically for phosphorescent/glow-in-the-dark... :)

oh, and kiddies? remember what chef said on south park:

chef: now, chil'dren, you know what i've told you about drugs?
kids: 'there's a time and a place for everything, and it's called "college."'
chef: thaaaaat's right...

:)

p.s. - if you still have that drawing, i'd love to see it, if you can scan it... i'll show you mine if you show me yours!! lol... :) send me a priv.message, if you wish...
