So, the ISP I do business with decides to up the speeds. Now, I'm actually paying more for the service, but how does one actually KNOW you're getting the bandwith you're paying for? Is there some utility you can check for maximum bandwith?

I did the same thing and I use speakeasy.net's speedtest to keep my cable company honest.
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ Since most of our time is spend connected to SL, I use the San Francisco location. The great thing about this test is that it is in Flash, so you don't need java and does both upload/download speeds. We actually licensed this at the place I work for our customers connecting to our Enterprise ASP application. _____________________
