(im reposting it here to get the message out quicker. time to sleep or watch some movies)

From the announcement forum:

Approximately 1/2 an hour ago the grid was been taken down due to an IM bomb in the Welcome Area which spewed IMs at a victim and caused our IM subsystem to become overwhelmed. We are deploying an emergency fix to prevent this type of attack in the future.

This means that the grid will be down for about 5 hours, which is the amount of time it takes to bring the grid down, install the patch and bring the grid back up. We anticipate the grid being back up by 11:00pm SLT (Second Life Time).
