When i'm not actively doing anything or thinking about anything my brain either starts remembering music or imagining conversations with a few people i know well and talk to a lot. Sometimes i also get into philosophy mode for some reason... that's usually fun :)
What comes to your mind when you're just walking somewhere, alone, or trying to fall asleep at night?

If I'm just standing around at work, and thinking to myself, I start going through "what if" situations, usually mundane stuff like conversations between friends or whatever.

When I'm trying to sleep, oddly enough my mind starts imagining "worst case scenarios" what-ifs... ie "what if that jackass at work threw a punch at me? What if he had a knife? What if the store got robbed? What if my gf was getting robbed?"

And so on. Strangely enough the self in these scenarios invariably comes up bruised, injured, or dead.

whenever there was nothing to do around where I used to work my mind would slowly go away after a while and if someone came up to me asking me a question I'd say a quote from a random movie I saw earlier that week,

heres an example,

Boss: Yeeeaaah, I'm going to have you come in on...aauugh..tomorrow, *sip* and if you could come in on sunday....yeah that'd be great, okay?

Me: [insert 30 second pause here] You can't handle the truth!!.....oh uh yeah..okay,

so to say the best my screensaver has auto responce, what does yours have? :P

For some reason...

A lot of times at work, during those few moments when nothing is happening I will start whistling the theme song from the Tom & Jerry cartoons. I have no idea why. I don't even like that cartoon. :}

I tend to analyze & re-analyze social interactions including holding imaginary conversations between myself & others. and also do the philosophy thing.

---

On an semi-related note, I have a co-worker who has a knack for saying those bizarre comments that your brain wants to understand but can't. If you're a fan of Louis Black's the "If it weren’t for my horse, I wouldn’t have spent that year in college." bit well it could have been written about her. Another co-worker has coined the term "she made him reboot" because whenever she makes one of these comments, if you look around someone always has that disengaged-brain, blank look on their face as they desperately race to make sense of what she said. It usually takes a few seconds before the conversation resumes.

I wish I could think of one of her quotes, but you're just better off if you allow yourself to forget them. Your brain will thank you for it.

My brain starts doing the philosopy bit, solving world problems. When I'm trying to sleep it takes whatever image I had in my thoughts & starts making a weird dream from it. It's kinda fun too! One night, after watching M*A*S*H, my brain started this "If MASH was real & you could go back in time, what would you take?" game.

Allways keeping things postive, Kriss. :p

I have future converstations in my head, dream of grand plans, experiment with alternate realities, or thinks of ways how to improve sl.

The last one is a recent addition. :p

What usually pops into my head is myself flying a plane or driving a car. Motion like that is relaxing to me I guess.

Remembering stupid support calls and trying to think... how would I have handled that differently if the customer has told me the truth at the start of the call instead of me having to figure it 20 minutes later.

Those flying toasters, they're classic.

I loved After Dark, it truely is one of my fave pieces of software. Started toying it with v2.0 on my old Macs, and then kept watching it evolve until the "need" for screensavers kind of flattened out.

There was a module mixer (forget the exact name) and ability to randomize modules. I thot that was a lot of fun, and so, my brain is prolly an extension of that in more than a few ways. I have a lot of segues, transitions, different intercut scenes. Sometimes it is languid like a Mr. Sloth, othertimes the pacing is frenetic like Harvey Birdman or Robot Chicken.

Oftentimes in the present, I see imagery like this in my mind's eye which I would like to bring into Second Life:

This is kind of sick and when I post it I know ya all will be wondering about me, if your not already wondering .... :p

But I think about Stephen King's The Stand - I imagine what Fort Lauderdale would be like wiped out by Captain Trips and how it would be to get around and how I would survive and get to my brothers in California. I do this all the time in traffic. Brain Screen Saver, good name for it.

Pretty awful.

The other brain screen saver is finding an Alien in my living room, a really ugly but friendly one. I figure out how to talk with it, introduce it to hubby - keep it safe from the government asshats. LOL.

Man I am so freakin weird I scare myself.

Sleep mode - total blank screen. Don't startle or I will bite.
