Drama Server Temporarily Down

The drama server was temporarily taken offline today. The exact cause of this is unknown. Fortunately the forums and the grid were not directly affected or rebooted, however you may notice a temporary increase in drama as the drama server reboots and re-initializes. We appologise for any temporary loss or future influx of drama, and plan on recoding faulty modules run within the drama server to ensure less downtime in the future.

Damn, Logan - I was just sifting thru the threads thinking to myself "What the hell is up with this?"

Then I saw your post here, and all makes sense now.

As long as the drama server has settled back down by my workday tommorow, no biggie. Maybe I'll hang in the Preview forums in the meantime. :D

My suspicions are that the drama server went down 'possibly due to a Resident action'.

Appears to be back up and running now.

Business as usual.

It sucks under 1.7 though. Maybe we should rollback 1.6 *ducks*

Maybe someone is having trouble with their internet access or is on vacation or other away from the computer for awhile. You know who.

Yes, thankfully this issue has almost been entirely resolved, which is amazing seeing that we did get flooded with a bit of a backlog of built-up drama today, and it's not tapering off back to normal default drama-levels as quickly as we had hoped. I've been assured by completely incompetent parties that everything should be back to normal "very soon", and that the Lindens are working to lower the drama-levels both inworld and within the forums back to the default setting of "grossly excessive" within the next 48 hours.

Actually, it appears they upgraded it, and the update is working GREAT.

The drama server seems to be having issues again. I think the processor is pegged, and its out of disk space.

I was recently told that they are going to fix all existing problems with the drama server as soon as Havok 2 is done. ;P

Todays particular issues are a result of re-loading and recycling previously cached drama - we've been getting a lot of that lately ;)

My sim DPS is 45, but my own DPS is running at 11.2 (except when I move and it goes down to about 9). I don't get it, my video card kicks ass, I have enough RAM and a fast computer and my connection is good. What's the deal? Where is all my Drama going? Does Shiny really take that much?

Chance - you can't just bunch all drama together like that. You have to realise that sim drama is completely different to client drama, not too mention network-drama. Try switching off local-bitching, and see if that helps.

Drama problems are frequently reported on Live Help: If you are having drama problems, two common solutions are to clear the drama cache and to limit the bandwidth for your drama. Then reboot. These can be set in edit>preferences>drama (or use ctrl-shit-d)

Oh and if you are running sl in a window, pull the curtains so no-one else can see your drama...

I've also found that if clear the cache, drop your pants and sing songs written by either Madonna or Michael Jackson, and then clear your cache again, drama is sufficiently restored. This works especially well if your drama is appearing entirely grey or loading slowly.

This post is not in keeping with the rest of this thread. Have you even taken the time to read the rest of the thread? Huh? Well? :D

Someone needs to feed the drama llama.
