You need an intermediary bank at times when you transfer to/from some Chinese banks. Read about some difficulty that the LL office had in doing that this week. Had a problem with my own bank out in the sticks of Long Island not knowing how to do it either. The bank manager didn't even know how to do it. It really messed up some plans. All because he was too embarrsassed to say he did not know how.

It is one thing, however, to not know how to do something and seek an answer and DO it.

And quite another to just not do it.

Since this wonderful company has many Asian customers, this bit of knowledge might help in the future. If it's not been happened upon already.

Transferring funds to/from the USA and any major Chinese bank is no difficulty.

A wire transfer costs roughly 25 USD. The slowest way to do it (phone call) takes about three minutes during business hours.

Funds go through New York, and take about two business days.

I'm not sure what this thread pertains to?

Edit: I would be VERY leary of dealing with any 'bank' that didn't have their own internationally recognised bank code. For any bank having its own international ID, the process is three minutes. Without it - if THAT was the problem... meh, I would personally refuse to transfer any funds whatsover. God knows where the money would go.

that's the idea to which the thread pertains...and the people to whom it pertains was in the title:) But, yes..I closed my account at that bank...a bit later. Not to make it seem too obvious that I thought they were inept :(
