Gore was just finishing high school when Doug Engelbart was busy creating the first networked computers.
Metaverse Sessions has an interview with Engelbart who is responsible for hypertext, the mouse, object oriented interfaces, collaborative computing, hanging chads, and yes....the Internet. Its not directly related to Second Life, but it's safe to say that if it were not for people like Doug, the Internet would not be the same. |

Al Gore isn't one of my heros. He lost all respect from me when he wimped out and we got the Burning Bush. (powered by Big Oil). He got no sympathy when SouthPark roasted him reciently (from me). (Although ManBearPig sounds kind of sexy) HOWEVER In a VERY real way, Al Gore created the COMMERCIAL internet. He was the one who pushed through the laws which allowed every $$ that didn't come from government or education to flow. Vilification and out of context statements just piss me off.
