http://tinyurl.com/cqyyfThis article is about developing the standards for high-speed data communications over power lines. "That will be of tremendous benefit to people in places where DSL and cable Internet services don’t reach and where there's no financial incentive for phone and cable companies to expand their service regions" My phone company has no plans to expand xDSL service into my area. I'm stuck with unreliable cable Internet. Power line broadband may help, but I'm unsure of the time frame.

We already have powerline internet in Portugal. The specs look like it might rock - really fat uploads compared to DSL and cable, great for eMule. I wouldn't mind trying it out but it's not available in my area yet.

From: nimrod Yaffle Might this be used in 3rd world countries, and other countries where internet is scarce? Yes, it could be. Whether it's cost-effective depends on existing infrastructure. This is primarily a "last mile" technology. The powerlines already need to exist for it to be cost effective.

Sorry, we couldn't establish a connection to the server. Here are some possible reasons. - Your suckass excuse for a firewall is blocking us. - You're loaded with spyware that's hosing the TCP runtime. - You have too many gorram pideons on the powerline again.
