Yes, I'm a former WoW-er. Played in the beta too, but when waiting lines for log-in developed and the population became overrun with immature Diablokiddies, I cancelled and haven't looked back. Gold farming was just starting to become a problem back then. Apparently it's now gotten out of control: From: someone In keeping with Blizzard's aggressive stance against cheating in World of Warcraft, we banned over 30,000 accounts in the month of May, and with that removed well over 30 million gold from the economy across all realms. The banned accounts were taking part in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use, including using third-party programs to farm gold and items, which severely impacts the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

From: Laukosargas Svarog mmm 30000 farmers looking for a new venue eh ? ... Now LL's move to take away Dwell begins to make sense Picture this: 30,000 new pole dancers perma-camping all the strip bars 24/7. Try to cyber them, however, and you're liable to find out it's a young Taiwanese boy behind that hot hoochie av. And he doesn't speak English.

This isn't the first time Blizzard has booted a large group of people from WoW.

It are only 30,000 accounts, not people, and most likely all owned by only a handfull of compagnies. They would already be in sl if it was profitable.
