I've heard that some people have been collecting DNA samples from endangered species and freezing them for possible cloning incase they went extinct someday. Hopefully the black rhino was one of those archived.

It would be a shame if they only existed in zoos. Amiable beasts too, if you don't startle them, their skin has the texture of the finest suede, but they are damned heavy, especially when they rub against you.

I think we need more information. Were those rhinos impeding the development of land? If so, they needed to get with the 21st century and make way for progress. They refused so they chose their fate.

This is a pity, but given that our situation with overpopulation/diminishing resources is reaching a climax, I expect homo sapiens sapiens to become the next endangered species rather quickly.
The bad news: cloning anything we've archived, black rhino or otherwise, will probably become impossible, as we're probably going to lose a lot of, if not most or even all of, our technology. The good news: Earth finally gets to go on the long road to recovery. |

Nor any other species. Get off your moral high-horse. Species have been going extinct since organisms were complex enough to be broken down into species. It will happen reguardless of if we exist or not. If we vanished tommorow, species would continue to go extinct (and new ones be created) until the planet was a lifeless ball of rock and our sun finally goes dark. We are not above nature. We're a part of nature. Nature is a merciless, bloody, sweaty existance, not Bambi's Wonderland. Nature kills other aspects of nature. Always has been that way, always will be that way. _____________________
