I just spent ages downloading the update, now it's saying there is an unknown issue. This is ridiuclous, I can see people online, what's going on?

I am getting the sam emessage. I downloaded the update and now I get a screen saying "despite our best efforts, something unknown has gone wrong" or something like that. SO specific =/
