Just ran into some wierd event involving a 6800 Ultra I am using and it may apply to others. I loaded and ran 3Dmark 03 benchmark test and after the test tried to run SL and recieved an error notice stating my video card did not meet the standards to run SL. I tried anyway and SL failed to load saying I need a OpenGL capable card. I rebooted and tried again getting the same result. When I ran 3Dmark03 I dropped it to high performance and no filtering, I tried setting it back to the way I had it set but it made no difference.

Instead of fussing with drivers and such I simply rolled back XP using system restore and everything works as it did.

I'll be on the lookout, but my 6800 Utra has so far given me no problems, except for the lack of waves (missing waves started with GF FX, waves last seen with a GF4).

Do you recall what drivers you were using with your 6800U?
Were you running SLI or a single card?
AGP or PCIe?

I,m using the latest Nvidia drivers on a single PCI-e 6800 Ultra with 512 mvram. I think waves are an ATI only thing now.

Sounds like a driver issue if the rollback worked. I use a 6800U and have never seen this before. Try running Driver Cleaner (www.drivercleaner.net) next time and reinstall the latest official drivers which should work. I've gotten that message in other games with bad driver installs but not in SL.
