OK, this is getting insane.
I can't log on with either of my "main", old AV's....but a recently created throw-away AV, that I made just to convince a friend that the process was harmless and SL is safe and fun, CAN log on with ease, and SL works just fine?
WTF?!
Anyone have the slighest idea why 2 AV's can't get past "Initializing World" and the 3rd can log on with ease? From the same PC....
To be completely clear, my PC is running SL just fine, as evidenced by me accessing it and using it without problems with an alt.
So, LL, what the hell is going on here? It is NOT my PC.

Yes I know why that is happeneing please go into your task bar.. hold down cntrl alt delete bringup the task menu goto the second tab "Proceses" look down that list for any Secondlife.exe running and highlight them and hit the shut down or close button. you may get a message if you do this it might cause errors blah blah.. just shut it down anytways. second ife is stuck on a roll and it needs to forced down then you should be able to log back in again
Hope this solves it..
AOhh if id doesnt when you get to the login screen hit the prefrences button and Clean your cashe!!! Major culprit as well

The end task thing was new, I hadn't tried that... it didn't work, but it was a good idea. Thanks.
Other than that I've already tried uninstalling, running a virus scan and defrag, re-downloading and reinstalling, clearing the cache, and filing a ticket. Tech support gets back to me once a day via email with some ridiculous fix that completely ignores the fact that I can log in with any avatar other than this one. I can't log into the support chat system because the avatar that is having problems is my premium account, so I'm stuck with this daily email frustration.
It's obviously some kind of corruption with this avatar's account. They need to get this fixed.

I've been getting that for the past 2 hours. I have been in SL for a month with no problems (to speak of). Tonight I created a new AV just for fun, logged in, went to a freebie store to get clothes, etc, and lost my internet connection. Not unusual for my ISP. I have a very bad ISP, the owner of which is a major control freak and if he sees anything traffic-wise of which he does not approve, he has no qualms about shutting you down with no notice. I live in the boonies, and he's the only game in town besides 56K dialup, and that won't work, so...until something better comes along, I have to play by his rules. The connection came back up after a couple of minutes, so I immediately tried to log back in with my new AV. That's when the "login packet never received..." error started. Email and web browser both worked fine, so I knew I wasn't totally cut off. I assumed that the ISP guy saw the massive download taking place from the lag-ridden freebie store and had blocked a port on my account. I called and got a really nice guy who assured me that they had done nothing to my account. He suggested it might be my firewall, router, etc... of course the fact that it's all worked fine for the past month was lost on him. Thinking it was my new AV, I switched back to my regular one. No-go. Same error for two hours now. So what causes this? I've rebooted, cleared cache, reset my IP address on my router, everything I can think of. Does Linden have a server with a problem somewhere that I'm trying to log into? I searched for this problem on the SL website and found a lot of entries, but no solutions or causes. Would it helped if I deleted my newbie AV? Can I do that without logging into the client? I think I'll go try that....and if I still can't get on tomorrow, I'm gonna be seriously P.O.'d.

But It shouldnt be runnin gin the back anyways. Unless you know its running. Why in the world would be client be running in the back ground without anyone knowning it? I have a better Idea REBOOT THE COMPUTER! This always works for me If i have login problems of any kind that is released to the UI.

From: Okiphia Rayna deleting a seperate account shouldnt help, as it is just that... Right. It didn't help. I canceled that account and it didn't change anything. Twelve hours later - same problem. I uninstalled SL and reinstalled it. Same error message. I have submitted a support ticket which has had the status of "work in progress" for a few hours now, so I guess I just need to be patient. This is horribly frustrating. Also, this may be a dumb question but....after uninstalling, will all of my stuff still be there? The sad thought of losing everything fleeted across my mind just as I clicked "Uninstall"....
