Is it possible? I know you get the SL client warning when opening a 2nd client. so im just curious if theres any way to get around it without having to set up a second pc?
Any help or some closure would be appreciated :)

In the shortcut on your desktop, bring up properties and change the target to read:
CODE
"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -multiple

That's for windows. Presumably the linux version will need --multiple on the command line, and mac should have something similar.

start >> run

enter: "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -multiple

not sure about max or *nix... but this is how on a windows machine.

for the mac, create a text file called arguments.txt. Type in -multiple. Right click on the sl application, choose <show package contents> and drop the text file into the resources folder. Duplicate SL application and your are ready to go.

I can tell you though, the new client isn't as multiple client friendly as the older one. I find I have horrible stuttering if the clients have VBO turned on, and the memory usage is outrageous. One client alone often fills my 2 gig of memory. With the old client I could run two with no issues. And this is the PC version i'm speaking of.

New client is odd when you run multiple, simply trick to make it less laggy when you want 2 of them running, start one, let it finish, minimize it, start other, wait for it to finish load, open the one you minimized, it doesnt lag as much for either.

Old client didnt do this, you could start 2 clients at same time it wouldnt affect either, new ...well start 2 same time one will have aloooot of lag , the simple trick above gets rid of that tho (and having dualcore on this helps tons \o )

If you current settings in one client causes lag, then what do you thing adding another client will do? Turn down all settings to less than half and adjust them accordingly.
I could manage upto 4 clients on a 2ghz single core PC with 1gb ram on a 2mb connection, with all the eye candy turned down, and no music, movies, sounds etc, but thats like using a chatroom with just coloured fonts LOL..
