According to techbargains.com, this Sunday (1-16) Best Buy will have a sale of 25% off on all PNY NVIDIA video cards.

This means the 6600GT AGP or PCI-e will be $187!

The cheapest reputable online seller, newegg.com, has this for $213.

(I am not affiliated with either site, I just thought that if someone was considering upgrading this weekend, this would interest them. Mods, please move to off topic, if you think it doesn't belong here.)

I know what you mean, I have been burned by their non-existant loss leaders before. All the big retailers do that now. I got my 6800GT for $320 in December when Compusa was selling the 6800 for $229. Turns out they never ordered any of the lower priced ones and I had to throw a public fit to get them to give the next one up for the same discount.

But if someone's store (or the website) has them in stock/rainchecks them, this is a decent deal.

They cost 250 euros here... and nothing's ever on sale. I love how americans make 3 times more money than us and get much cheaper hardware. Thanks a lot, taiwan.
A swedish friend of mine actually FLEW to america to buy a laptop and it came out cheaper.

Good Lord!

I just checked several EU sites and the cheapest I could find was mistergooddeals.com in France. They have the 6600GT AGP with the full version of Far Cry (great game) for E239.

Is it legal for us in the US to buy them here and send them to you? I am sure we could work something out. US$100 more to get the same product seems like a lot. Is it because of VAT or other taxes that it is so high?

Edit: cdiscount.com has the 6600GT AGP for E219 (no game included).

Thanks a lot VAT and other money pits in europe, not taiwan. (I live in europe too and have paid E300 for GF6800 three months ago so I'm as thrilled as you are)

Legal yes but hardly practical... what if the card doesn't work? Will you send it back to US to replace it? And after you pay import fees the difference in price isn't that big either.

Anyone take advantage of this? Did you manage to find one in store, or did you end up ordering online?

In the DC area my chances of finding a 6600GT at Best Buy is about the same as my chances of reaching up an elephant's butt and finding something tasty. :(

I'll take my chances at the computer shows they have every weekend. Bargains have been found at those before.
