Hello,
Tonight when I logged in on Second Life there were some strange things happening with my avatar. The white of my eyes was black, my skin was slightly altered, my body shape was slightly altered and some of my clothing was slightly altered.
I took my clothing off, selected different eyes, skin and shape and for most things that I took off I got a box asking if I wanted to save the modifications.
I did not make those modifications myself.
Is this a technical problem or could this have been a revenge action?! When I logged out yesterday I did leave a guy a bit rudely because he was annoying me... Could he have somehow hacked my avatar?
Other people can't edit my avatar, right?!

From: Threshin Barnett With the new weapons, yes. So there are weapons which can alter other avatar's body parts and clothes? Also when you're not logged in?

So there are weapons which can alter other avatar's body parts and clothes? Also when you're not logged in? no ,no and no. Below are exsamples thats very rare If youre pushed hard enough you can end up in limbo and get ruthed, havnt had that happen in over a year log in on a slow sim got wrong shaped body(or just none for a long time) either ruthed or oddly shaped that can happen. Always keep a copy of your avatar shape/clothes never rely on SL with just 1, it can revert anything you changed on your avatar if asset didnt save it before going slow/crash

I've seen other folks mention similar problems. The common advice is to clear your cache, relog and rebake your avatar. Unfortunately I don't have the experience doing either (yet) so I can't explain the process. I assume clear cache and rebake avatar are options in either the preference menus or top menu bar.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Hopefully this will at least give you some leads to a solution.

Thanks for the tips - fortunately the problem was solved by switching clothes and body parts. I was just scared that someone had "raped" me....

Every once in awhile, maybe once or twice a week, my head ends up bigger than it should be. Everyone else can see it, but I can't see it. I've tried clearing my cache and even remade my entire shape by writing down all the slider values and re-entering them in a fresh shape. I've seen others with this problem, but my avatar is especially susceptible to this due to the attachments I wear. Do you think this may be the problem you saw?

To clear your cache: Top of screen menu - Edit, Preferences Got to Network Tab on the open window click the Clear Cache button Logout of sl, and preferably cold boot your PC.
To Rebake: Top of screen menu - Client, Character, Rebake Textures (last choice in the nested menu) (If you do not see the Client and Server menu options next to Help, press Ctrl+Alt+D keys to bring them up.)
To make SL run smoother. Top of screen menu- Edit, Preferences Network Tab, move the Bandwidth slider to 2/3rd's of your connection speed. Set Cache size to maximum (assuming you have enough free space on your hard disc, if not get some. Graphics Tab, set draw distance to 96 Advanced Graphics tab, Particles to 50, Fog Distance to 1.5, Composite Layers to 2
By no means a comprehensive list of things to do, but a start. Also defrag your hard discs every week. When an update is available, uninstall the original SL client and install the new one (re-setting all the above) this resets the OS registry of any spurous junk. Keep your GC drivers upto date.
