i am running an ATI card (dont like them). i have problems with fps etc. i have found a way around this by running SL in a window at 800x600. works really nicely. i then maximise the window (this also means i can use my other screen).

my understanding of this is, as it is in a window it is still only running at 800x600 even though it is maximised to the whole screen.

could someone confirm whether this is correct.
cheers

You can resize window any size, but native resoultion stays the same yes, 1600x1200, 1900x1600, still looks the same for me, but smaller gui make it easier to build.

If it's maximized (IE, you can still see the window titlebar, etc) then no, that is not correct. In that case, it will be running at 1024x768 or 1600x1200 or whatever your desktop resolution on that monitor is set to.

I would have to agree that if it's maximized, it's running the higher resolution. A few days ago I was attending a scripting lessom. I needed to have a script, a chat historyand an edit dialog all open at once, and still see the examples that were being given. At 1024x768 in a window, I couldn't do that. Maximizing to my full 19" monitor, I had plenty of room to do that. So yeah, I had more pixels when maximized.

cheers for the comments.
when i say 'maximised', i mean that i've dragged out the corners of the window (not used the maximise button). thats why i had the thought that it was only calculating for 800x600, but then displaying at whatever size and shape i make the window.
