SL worked fine before 1.8.2.9 and 1.8.3.9 were installed

now I cant hardly move

nor will my graphics load half the time

The graphics card is brand new about 10 days old

I've moved this to Technical Issues so hopefully you can get the help you deserve, since SL Answers isn't the right place for it... it needs unfolding and discussion! Please don't hesitate to contact support either. :)

1.8.2.9 implimented a new way that SL looks at your installed memory and sort of "combines" the total between system and video RAM. The vid card is fine, but unless you want to lower your performance settings you'll have to bite the bullet and get more system RAM to maintain the performance level you are accustomed to (unless of course someone has a workaround for this, but I kinda doubt it).

There should be an indicator in the adv.graphics tab of preferences, under the graphics ram selector it should show a recommended setting for your current configuration, im not sure how accurate it is but i would suggest setting your graphics ram used to 64Mb and maybe try the 128Mb setting.

The way it works is that it allocates about the size of the graphics ram selected to be used as texture cache, ie if you select 256Mb it will allocate roughly 256Mb of ram for texture cache, as you only have 256Mb ram this will slow down things quite abit
