nVidia Driver "not passed" Windows Logo testing

SL login recommends upgrading my nVidia driver. Running install routine, Windows "strongly recommended" NOT installing either latest (78.01) and one mentioned by login (41.09) because they had "not passed Windows Logo testing," predicting dire consequences like virus vulnerability, leprosy and bird flu pandemics, if I recall.

Game runs without it, but laggy in the entry space after Orientation Island.

What's with this?

That's actually standard. The latest versions of many drivers are just released directly from the manufactuer without Microsoft putting their stamp of approval on it.

So long as you have an nVidia card and you got the driver from nVidia, don't worry about it.

Exactly. Microsoft being the monolithic bureaucracy it is takes a while to put new drivers through their paces. You will find a lot of drivers aren't logo certified as smaller companies can't afford the fees involved in getting that certification. Don't worry about it unless you are installing in a "mission critical" computer or something of that nature.
